Golf Course (the Prairie Club): The Prairie Club is a World-Class golf destination and resort. It is written up be many critical magazines and gained true notoriety since opening in 2010. The Prairie Club offers 36 holes, divided into two courses – the Pines, and the Dunes. Each were designed by separate golf personalities – Graham Marshall for the Pines and Tom Lehman for the Dunes. Two separate experiences, two different looks and feelings.
In addition, the “Horse” course was designed by Gil Hanse. It is a Par 3 and based off the basketball game “H-O-R-S-E”. There are no tee boxes, the one with honors calls where you tee it up.
“The concept is that the winner of the previous hole, like the game of “H-O-R-S-E”, gets to choose the stance, lie, shot, and green for the next hole.
The large lodge provides multiple restaurants and bars, both fine dining and casual, an outdoor fire pit, and a telescope to take advantage of looking at the stars in one of THE least light-polluted places on earth… factually! Fishing Club (The Snake River Preservation Group): For those that love to fish for trout, the Snake River is about as good as it gets… not just in Nebraska, not just in the prairie, but about anywhere this side of Alaska. It is certainly one of THE best-kept secrets in the sporting community and an incredible asset to those able to partake in its bounty. However, there are only certain people that are in fact able. That is because this portion of watershed is completely private… completely! The Snake is not a navigable river and therefore holds no opportunity to even be floated on a canoe. And in Nebraska, the rivers are privately owned including the ground underneath the water. Conclusively the Snake River in Nebraska is an anomaly to all great trout rivers in Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, and on. Therefore it is of tremendous value. And as the second bonus opportunity, a fishing club named The Snake River Preservation Group owns nearly 6 miles of the river and its canyon. The Snake River Preservation Group has of course its own rules and regulations as any exclusive club and they are not tied to the Pines Reserve. Purchasing this parcel of the Pines Reserve does not give you membership to the Snake River Preservation Group.
Merritt Reservoir: is only X miles away. This dammed portion of the Snake River is the fastest location on earth to replenish its water supply. Sitting on top of the Ogallala Aquifer, the stream coming in never dries up or is interrupted… a true phenomenon indeed! The lake is big water and considered one of the top fishing lakes in Nebraska for walleye, northern pike, perch, large mouth bass, catfish, crappie, bluegill, and others… guided fishing available for 26 different trophy species total. And like the region, is basically under-civilized and pretty as a picture. On its north side is a bait shop making it easy to pick up live bait or essentials of fishing. Cabins are available as well for any overflow of guests an owner of Pines Reserve might have.
Valentine and the Niobrara River: The nearby town of Valentine is one of those little oases in the middle of God’s country. Not long ago, it would be nearly all cowboys, but as time goes on, it is becoming a mix of the hearty folks working with cattle, and those who come to experience what the area might offer. Seeing the Niobrara River is an attraction and should be recommended. The Niobrara was designated a scenic river and is protected from development by national law. It is an amazing combination of trees, plant life, fauna, and flora. Elk and deer might be seen on a float. And other local wildlife is plentiful.
Even without partaking in any of the local opportunities nearby, the certainty is that as an owner of a portion of the Pines Reserve, a person would have their own slice of paradise.
